A mixed bag

Been busy painting over the last couple of months but haven't got round to posting on the blog, so here's a bit of a catch up.

British 7th Hussars, a mix of HH OPCs, HH KGL hussars with the peaks filed off the headgear, plus some Lammings to make up the numbers.

Coldstream guards ( or at my level of paining detail, a generic British regiment with blue facings!)

The 33rd foot (West Riding of Yorkshire regiment)

And finally, I converted a couple of Fusilier officers to ensigns and did a head swap on a Newline drummer to add a command stand to my 23rd fusiliers.

  1. Every one is a classic! I love the way you've done the colour parties in particular. They look exceptionally heroic!

    1. Thanks Matt, I do like my British battalions to have both a King's colour and a regimental colour.

  2. Very productive - I'm loving those Hussars! Good to see how you have tackled those fusiliers in light of my own effort, very smart.

    1. The fusiliers were painted a couple of years ago now, but I recently managed to find some spares to convert into 2 x ensigns and a drummer, so the unit is finally complete!

  3. Wow! You really have got busy with the paintbrush. You'll be running out of room to store / fight these if you keep on at this rate. I think odd different figure inserted nicely breaks up the rigidity of serried ranks of identical figures without creating the sheer chaos of some makes these days where the figures are all in wildly varying poses.

    1. Rob, I must admit the OH is a little concerned about the space my hobby takes up! Playing area is just 44 inches square, I haven't the heart to tell her I'd like to increase that to 44 x 66. We have the space (sort of) , but it wouldn't earn me any brownie points.

  4. Good day. Have been through all the posts and comments, wonderful. Great job you are doing here, like you I have decided to use the Charles Grant Napoleonic Rules. My troops are a result of a 45 year spending spree, and although I have no HH, do have some golden oldies. I much prefer the older ranges, styles and castings. Cannot say precisely why, I just do. Are the modern figures better? I don't know.

    1. Hello James, I do like the current 3d printed figures, they look amazing when painted, But my heart is set on the HH figures I craved as youngster, but couldn't afford at the time.
