The Shiny Tenth!

The 10th (Prince of Wales Own) Light Dragoons (Hussars) completed today.

All original HH as far as I can tell.

When I was prepping these I only had one regiment in mind, it had to be the 10th!

Brought back fond memories of the Airfix 54mm kit which I had several goes at back in the early 1970's.

The 10th had various nicknames, "The Chainy 10th" - due to the distinct decoration on the officers' pouch belts, "The Shiny 10th" - due to their opulent uniforms and "The China 10th"- because like fine porcelain they were beautiful but easy to break! As these guys have a coat of gloss varnish it seemed appropriate to use "The Shiny 10th" for the title of this blog post.

Donald where's yer troosers?

 Donald where's yer troosers?

In this case Donald must be the piper, the rest of the 92nd (Gordon) Highlanders are wearing their campaign dress. Donald has retained his kilt and feather bonnet.

These are casts from a conversion inspired by this illustration: -

The conversion and the casting are down to Royston (thanks mate, sorry it took me so long to get round to painting these!)

I guess the reference in the post title might be lost on any non-brits and/or  anyone under the age of 60, so here you go:
