Looking good but a close up would be nice - who's the cavalry unit on battle tops in the background? Such a lot of bottle tops, must've been a hell of a party!
Rob, The cavalry are a French Hussar regiment, there's also a French Light Infantry battalion undercoated ready to paint and a Highland regiment which I've put off painting until I can pluck up the courage to do a reasonable tartan. I'll add a close-up pic of the 52nd, but it will just show up both my poor painting and photographic skills!
Thanks they look fine to me - did you leave out their colours as a Light Infantry unit or did you not have the figures for them? Tartan can be represented fairly simply - well enough to fool the eye while playing. I paint a base colour (dark blue) and then paint dark green horizontal and vertical lines followed by a dot of brighter green where the dark green lines cross. Anyway that works for me.
WM, Thanks! My first line regiment was the East York’s as I’ve lived there for 44 years, the second were the Sherwood Foresters as I was born and raised on the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire border

I think colours look a little odd on a unit in open order, also I didn’t have the figures
DeleteBTW which French hussar regiment is it on the painting bench?
ReplyDeleteProbably the first hussars as I like the sky blue and red combo
DeleteWell done Dave. I always like to see my Homies (I'm an Oxford Man, you know, as well as being a Wellington one)!
