Back with bearskins!

After a hobby lay-off of quite a few weeks I managed to get some painting done this week, my first attempt at a French Old Guard Grenadier battalion.

Next up will either be some French artillery or a French Dragoon unit

  1. Welcome back - and with a bang! Well Old Guard Grenadiers should make quite a bang when they hit something.
Did you do any more play-test of CSG's rules while off painting?

    1. Hi Rob, I invested in a copy of CS Grant's "The Wargame Rules" just to make sure I wasn't re-inventing the wheel, sure enough he has rule mods which address a lot of the questions I had with the original rules, especially with regard to play sequence. Was never sure if a forced withdrawal due to failed morale test was immediate or took place next move, this set answers that. Still working on my own rule summary and playing a few mini-scenarios to test.

      Cheers
      Dave

  2. Excellent! And what an intriguing standard bearer. I've never seen one like that before. The DK version has the flag flying in the opposite direction! Did he have a figure code?

    1. Hi Matt, The base of the standard bearer has been filed down so no figure code. Doesn't look like a conversion, so I'm as mystified as you are, maybe someone else out in the HH collectors collective has an idea?

  3. Good to see you back at the painting table.

I have not seen a Grenadier standard like this before. Could it be a David Clayton version perhaps.
